Hamptons Art Network Relief Fund
Hamptons Art Network Relief Fund supported visual artists, choreographers, musicians, and writers in the 119 zip code region who were adversely affected by COVID-19.
About the Award
NYFA partnered with the Hamptons Arts Network, a consortium of 19 arts and cultural nonprofits located on the East End of Long Island, to launch a an artist relief effort to support visual artists, choreographers, musicians, and writers living and working in the region who were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The effort built on the legacy of artists helping artists in the East End, and was galvanized by artists Clifford Ross and Eric Fischl, who took the lead role in fundraising and donating matching gifts to jump-start the initiative.
The resulting Hamptons Arts Network Artist Relief Fund awarded unrestricted $2,000 grants to regional artists facing financial emergencies, including loss of wages and medical expenses due to the pandemic. To be eligible for a grant, artists must have been living in New York State zip codes beginning with 119 and demonstrated dire financial circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 crisis.
The fund was supported by philanthropic donations from a range of supporters from within the creative community, including Ross, Fischl, and Robert Longo; artist-endowed foundations Dedalus Foundation, William de Kooning Foundation, and Helen Frankenthaler Foundation; and gallerists Larry Gagosian and Per Skarstedt, among others.
