The Tri-State Relief Fund
The Tri-State Relief Fund to Support Non-Salaried Workers in the Visual Arts was open to NY, CT, and NJ arts workers who have lost income opportunities due to COVID-19.
About the Award
The Willem de Kooning Foundation, the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation, Teiger Foundation, and the Cy Twombly Foundation partnered to establish an emergency relief grant program to provide aid to Tri-State non-salaried workers in the visual arts who had experienced financial hardship from lack of income or opportunity as a direct result of the COVID-19 crisis. The aim of the fund was to support the behind-the-scenes arts workers whose jobs vanished, were cancelled, or postponed during lockdown.
The Tri-State Relief Fund to Support Non-Salaried Workers in the Visual Arts distributed one-time unrestricted cash grants of $2,000 to freelance, contract, or non-salaried workers in the following categories: Archivists, Art Handlers, Artist/Fine Art Photographer’s Assistants, Cataloguers, Database Specialists, Digital Assets Specialists, Image Scanners/Digitizers, Registrars, Arts Educators, Arts Publication Editors, and Arts Curators. Applicantions were open to residents of Connecticut, New Jersey, or New York who were able to show a sustained commitment to their field of visual arts work.
